6 Oddities

ACK! I’ve been tagged to do the “Six Things” meme. Thanks ever so, weakervessel.

I give you Six Weird Things About Me:

  1. I sucked my thumb until the ripe old age of 10. But after age 5 or so, the thumb usually wound up in my mouth while I slept. It became an involuntary thing. “What got you to quit, Catheroo?” Slumber parties. I would have been mortified had one of my early-rising friends seen me in my thumb-sucking glory. I started putting a Band-Aid on my thumb if I was going to spend the night at a friend’s. The non thumb-like taste and texture of the adhesive bandage was disgusting and I’d immediately pull my thumb out of my mouth on contact. The trick worked at home too, so eventually I quit my embarrassing habit.

Assistance, please

Good Lord. I cannot get Bad Day by Daniel Powter out of my head.

Please leave a comment with a lyric, or the name of a song or something anything to help me overcome this obnoxiosity. (I think I just made up a new word.)

Public Service Announcement

My friend Steph’s sister Danielle is participating in the Arthritis Walk in May. Her goal is to raise $300 but she’s only a little over half-way there. I thought I’d put the feelers out to all you Catheroominators and see if anyone is interested in helping her meet her goal and aid the Arthritis Foundation.

As I’ve mentioned, I was diagnosed with the psoriatic variety (AKA sorryass arthritis) late last year. I will be thrilled if/when some brilliant researcher finds a cure for arthritis.

If you’d like to donate and help Danielle contribute some major bucks to the Foundation, leave a comment and I’ll send you the link. You choose the donation amount and can donate in honor of someone if you’d like.

Thank you for your consideration. We now return to our regularly scheduled blogging.

Stuff Portrait Friday: Easter Edition

This week’s assignment from Kristine had an Easter theme:

1. Your Peeps – introduce us to some of your friends outside of the blog world.
This was tough. I have a lot of friends, but I don’t see them often enough. And I almost never get them all together. But even with three days’ notice I managed to capture a few.

2. Something Fuzzy – *shaking head* you guys keep it clean.
I tried to find something moldy in the refrigerator, but I didn’t have anything. Lucky for you guys.

3. Something/Someone you want to dye/die – Yeah, shut up, you’ve thought of it!
I already dye my hair, so I couldn’t choose that. I’d love to dye the walls of my apartment, but how exciting is a photo of a white wall?

Yesterday

As I drove down Hwy 85, the sight reflected in my rear-view mirror amazed me. I pulled off the freeway and into a parking lot. Quickly grabbing the camera out of my trunk, I tried to capture a glimpse of uncommon beauty during these past weeks of dreary gray clouds and rain.

After a few minutes, a car came racing into the lot. Ignoring the lines that designate appropriate parking positions, the car settled perpendicularly across three spots. The driver got out, grabbed her camera, stuck it on the roof of her car, and clicked away.

Celebrity news

Maggie Gyllenhaal and Peter Sarsgaard are engaged. And they’re having a baby. Talk about multi-tasking! I’m not sure of the order on those two events, but was able to get some scoop:

  • Aaron Sorkin will be officiating the ceremony
  • Willie Aames is Peter’s Best Man
  • Maggie found her hand-made silk wedding gown at a street bazaar
  • Before shopping for the gown, the happy couple shared a lovely Indian meal, complete with naan
  • Swedish car company Saab is loaning cars for the wedding guests to use during the festivities
  • Chris Isaak is set to provide musical entertainment at the reception
  • AA Milne’s Winnie the Pooh will grace the walls of the baby’s room
  • Gyllenhaal and Sarsgaard are registered at the perfect store to fulfill their their every need. Mxyplyzyk, of course!
